I’m Jenny Fraser, a freelance interiors, property and shopping journalist lucky enough to get insider access to the latest and best products for our homes.
Whether it’s the newest looks and quality products from much-loved high-street brands; independent creators and emerging artisans, I love to share with you my finds. I’m conscious most of us don’t have the budget to undertake complete revamps of our living spaces but still like to be in the know what’s out there, and what products to work with to give our homes a lift.
This is where Find the Details comes in - a new space for new looks, new ideas, upcoming events and shop launches. It’s in its infancy but the more I post, the more I can learn from you what appeals - and what doesn’t - the better and more comprehensive it will become. I have an extensive background in magazine journalism as both freelance and staff, with words featured in the leading UK interiors brands. I’ve spent many years spent writing and editing shopping and design pages. I’m a nonfiction design author, an agented fiction writer and, a few years back, I ran an interiors blog under this name.
The blog was well regarded and I loved writing it, but it interfered with my regular work as shopping editor for a major print title: it felt wrong to post pieces online which paying readers of the magazine had to wait three months to view. And, sadly, writing for free didn’t make sense when I needed to spend what time I had producing content for which I’d get paid.
Fast forward, and here we are with Substack, a platform many journalists like myself are turning to to get a direct relationship with readers - a two-way one, I hope, as I’d love to hear what you’ve found while out and about.
Products and events I write about purely because I find them interesting and news-worthy, and I hope you will, too. I don’t take payment from companies to include their products on these posts, nor do I get earn via clicks made through from links on my site - though feel free to click away, as images here are linked to the producers’ sites, so you can find out how to buy from wherever you are in the world.
Find the Details is an entirely reader-supported publication. It’s written by me for you and, as it grows, I’ll be able to spend more time creating posts you like to see. I would be over the moon if you took out a paid subscription. Free subscribers will get regular updates on what’s new in the homes and design industry. Paying subscribers will get more posts, details of upcoming events and design fairs, plus community chats so we can grow this site together.
